H Nu™ was founded in Sydney NSW in 2017 by a team who realized the need for fully optical solutions for current and voltage measurement in power transmission networks.
Since optical fibers are natural insulators, they enable compact, safe and reliable sensing throughout the power network without the reliability concerns associated with placing electrical metering devices close to high voltage lines. Their extreme linearity avoids the need to separate protection and metering applications. Wide dynamic range allows a new level of power quality monitoring.
With the advent of large scale optical telecommunications, this optical technology had become highly reliable and affordable — it is a technology whose time has come.
